The birth of the Chocos
We noticed ingredients lists had started looking more like lab notes than recipes - full of things you'd never find in a kitchen. All chemicals and additives you can't even pronounce with little real food.
So we set out to craft real food from real ingredients...
July 2021
We travelled to Bologna in Italy, the home of gelato, to learn how to craft the best gelato in the world - making sure it was plant-based but creamier than cream! We learned from the master gelatieres and developed our recipes with Middle Eastern flavour profiles.
December 2021
We launched our plant-based mochi ice cream sandwiches outside a local buthcers...

Upgraded the set up and pitched up at Cabot Circus, Bristol.
A brutal crash course in street trading.
August 2022
We got involved with festivals - more upgrades to the set up, attention is key.
The weather was not on our side this summer.
November 2022
We moved into our first commercial unit.
A big risk for us but a big chance to grow the business...We liked those odds.
Jan - Nov 2023
Slowly growing our stockists, mainly in London.
Secured our first distributor so we can stop hand delivering to individual shops!
Time and money saved, but things aren't moving so quickly.
December 2023
Sending out our first pallet of stock. A good win, but still feels like an uphill battle.
We spent the night before watching Youtube videos on how to wrap a pallet...not a bad first attempt but definitely room for improvement.
March 2024
The writing is on the wall, the mochis aren't working - it turns out putting the worlds first clean-label mochi into retail is a lot harder than we thought!
A quick and hard pivot, a crash course in chocolate and the tests begin...
April 2024
The first Choco goes into production, and our mission to clean up the freezer aisle continues!
Talks with retailers in the background trying to secure listings for the new Chocos.
May 2024
First listings for the Chocos secured, first pallet of stock heading out.
Our pallet wrapping skills are definitely improving.
Nothing smooth about this launch though, our courier drops the pallet...Luckily the Chocos survive the fall.

Our new machinery arrives allowing us to increase our production by 6x - new found love for machinery.
We launch our first limited edition flavour - Chocolate Orange.

Slicker look and now our wrapper quality matches our product.

A busy few months trying to keep up with demand, pushing our production capacity to its limits...We're overwhelmed by all the love and support and the natural growth of the Chocos in such a short space of time!
